Research Program Coordinator
General Description: The Research Program Coordinator will work with bioethics/public health faculty to coordinate and manage an NIH-funded project related to informed consent in clinical research. This project is examining simplified ways of conducting informed consent in clinical research, and as such is working with investigators and participants from several different Johns Hopkins research studies where these simplified informed consent strategies are being implemented and evaluated. The coordinator will manage all day to day tasks related to the project including recruitment and interviewing of subjects, data handling, management, and basic analysis, interaction with the Institutional Review Board, management of confidential project electronic and paper files, and participation in drafting of manuscripts. The coordinator will work closely with project investigators to manage work flow and required tasks.
The coordinator also will assist with other miscellaneous research assistance tasks including literature reviews, manuscript editing, and assisting with pilot projects.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required; masters degree or work experience related to research strongly preferred. Should have familiarity with how research projects run and, preferably, with topics of bioethics. Must be detail oriented, responsible, able to be self-directed and work independently and also to interact in a respectful way with different research participants and various investigators. Must be able to handle multiple tasks and keep track of deadlines. Should have excellent written and verbal skills; experience with manuscript drafting would be a strength. Should have library and online research skills as well as computer skills, including familiarity with word processing, data entry programs & research tools. Research Subject Advocate
Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, currently has a full-time opening for a Research Subject Advocate to serve as the voice of the research participant to investigators and the institution.
Functions include providing expertise and training to investigators in formulating data and safety monitoring plans, participating as content expert and instructor for various training programs, and working closely with the CTSA and Office of Research Education to develop and deliver new or existing programs for degree, diploma, certificate, or workplace learning. Other responsibilities include participating in institutional committees or special projects, meeting directly with participants in the Research Patient Information Unit, and serving as the primary liaison between the CTSA Ethics Resource and the Human Subjects Protection Program, including the IRB.

Clinical Ethicist – Kaiser Permanente, Oakland, CA Full-time, clinical ethicist (3 positions), based in Oakland, California.
Description The Ethicist will serve as an expert resource in health care ethics and contribute to the Northern California region's ethics activities, including supporting the processes of Medical Center Ethics Committees, providing educational activities and written resources and collaborating with others in decisions with ethical issues.
Essential Functions: • Resource support to Medical Center Ethics Committees with tools, policy guidance, consultative structures. • Works with Regional TPMG Medical Group Department of Medical Ethics and regional health plan, hospital and medical group leadership to organize and standardize Northern California ethics program and activities. • Provides resource support to Medical Center personnel and Ethics Committees in individual ethics case reviews. • Analyzes and suggests improvements in consultation methods and approaches. • Reviews and develops policies as they relate to patient rights and ethics. Basic Qualifications: • Experience with clinical and operational ethics consultation, education and interdisciplinary collaboration. • Professional experience in organizational or research ethics preferred. • Masters in Social Work, Nursing or other related field. • Doctorate in Ethics or related field preferred. • RN, MD, LCSW or JD may be required, depending on focus of position. • Knowledge of principles, concepts and methods of health care ethics consultation and ethics program development to analyze, evaluate and provide direction and guidance on critical and complex ethical issues (clinical, operational and research). • Must be able to analyze practical problems, apply a consistent methodology and collaborate as a member of a multidisciplinary advisory team. • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication and advocacy skills. • Ability to work with all disciplines on the health care team. • Possesses teaching experience and tolerance for ambiguity. • Demonstrated understanding of clinical processes and problem-solving.

Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Neuroethics National Core for Neuroethics at the University of British Columbia Vancouver, Canada
An Opportunity in Neuroethics and Stem Cell Research
A position is available for an outstanding Postdoctoral Research Fellow to contribute to the development of innovative research and science activities at the National Core for Neuroethics. The incumbent will contribute to research on ethical, legal and social issues in stem cell research, helping to direct and participate in: collection, analysis and interpretation of data about stem cells in research and medicine; grant and manuscript writing; presentations at national and international meetings; development and execution of independent research; and other scholarly activity related to stem cells and neuroethics initiatives.
The successful applicant will have a PhD or equivalent degree, relevant research experience in a discipline related to neuroethics, bioethics and an interest in stem cell research as it relates to spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, and other disorders of the central nervous system. Some experience in the clinical domain is also desirable but not required.

The Neiswanger Institute for Bioethics & Health Policy is seeking an assistant or associate professor of bioethics. The position is tenure track within the Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. Must have excellent communication skills, the ability to mediate conflict and build consensus, and be able to work effectively with groups and in a complex organizational structure.
Must be able to assess and analyze issues and concepts, be able to convey these effectively, and be competent in evaluating competing ethical claims within the Catholic health care environment. Must have an understanding of health care systems, organizational policy and policy development, and be able to work effectively both independently and in collaboration with others.
Must have demonstrated competencies in Catholic moral theology, ethical theory, bioethical issues, and in research and writing.

Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences seeks applicants for Assistant Professor of Bioethics. The University offers a Masters of Arts in Bioethics in three degree tracts: a DO/MA dual degree earned over four years, a one-year Masters program, and a career enhancement tract where practicing professionals earn their degree on a part-time basis. In a rich and varied curriculum, the Department of Bioethics approaches the study of bioethics broadly by drawing on the perspectives of philosophy, the medical humanities, humanism, and the “softer” side of the social sciences. The department has close affiliation with area hospitals and the Center for Practical Bioethics.
The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in Philosophy, Religious Studies, Theology or other field related to Bioethics or a Master’s in Bioethics combined with an advanced clinician’s degree (e.g. D.O., M.D., M.A. or Ph.D. in Nursing, etc.). Bioethicist/Genetic Epidemiologist Sought for Health Sciences Specialist Position at the National Cancer Institute
The Epidemiology and Genetics Research Program (EGRP), Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences (DCCPS), National Cancer Institute (NCI), is seeking a Health Sciences Specialist in its Host Susceptibility Factors Branch (HSFB).
