Partner Journal Relationship Policy
Effective Date: July 2004
Revised: April 2006
ASBH may enter into collaborative agreements with scholarly journals that support the mission of the Society. The following are the basic elements of such agreements:
Benefits that ASBH will provide to its partner journals
- Encourage members to subscribe to the journal
- Provide the mailing labels of ASBH membership one time annually
- Provide a shared table for partner journals in the exhibit hall at ASBH meetings (Note: this table will not include any other publications of the publisher. The publisher may promote other publications or products at the annual meeting by placing an ad in the program book or by renting a separate exhibit space.)
- Include a link to the journal's website on the ASBH website
- Encourage speakers to submit their presentations to the journal by including this request in its letter to speakers
Benefits that the partner journals will provide to ASBH:
- Provide a discount to all ASBH members. (15%-25% is the recommended range for the discount.)
- Regularly include a general statement in the publication disclosing the partnership between the journal and ASBH
- Include notices of upcoming ASBH meetings
- Provide a link on their own home pages to the ASBH website
- Provide an expedited review of ASBH annual meeting plenary or other session papers
- And provide at least one of the following:
- an ongoing column by ASBH
- mailing list of all subscribers free of charge to ASBH
- ad space free of charge to promote ASBH and/or its Annual Meeting or
- other service or benefit as negotiated
For partner journal agreements that include a column, an ASBH appointed liaison is responsible for arranging the columns.
Standard partnership arrangements will be in place for an initial three-year period. At the end of that term, both parties will undertake a review of their experience with the relationship to determine whether to continue the arrangement.
