Task Force on Graduate Medical Education on Bioethics and Humanities
Purpose
This web site serves as a resource for educators and practitioners who teach bioethics and medical humanities in all residency and fellowship programs in North America. The links below are intended to serves as informational in guiding programs towards fulfilling the educational goals of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). As many of the General Competencies pertain to the art of medicine, this site serves as a web-based resource to meet these new training requirements. All training programs in medicine are responsible to meet the new accreditation requirements as of July 1, 2002.
ACGME Web Site on General Competencies
The ACGME has its own website describing the framework for its new General Competencies, and proposed methods of implementation and evaluation. The ACGME General Competencies contain essential educational goals regarding professionalism and ethics in all GME programs. The General Competencies are here.
The ASBH Syllabus Exchange Project
This ASBH Task Force has peer-reviewed program syllabi that have been submitted for open source use in residency education.

The ASBH Model Curriculum Project on Bioethics and Humanities
This ASBH Task Force has developed an Open Source response to teach Bioethics and Humanities across multiple disciplines, while upholding the goals of the ACGME Competencies. In each competency, proposed methods of implementation, readings, and evaluation are suggested. .
