Core Competencies Task Force
ASBH has formed a Task Force to update the Core Competencies in Health Care Ethics Consultation, which it published in 1998. The Core Competencies originated from the Task Force on Standards for Bioethics Consultation, which was sponsored by the Society for Health and Human Values and the Society for Bioethics Consultation (HHV-SBC). Over a two-year period (1996 to 1998), HHV and SBC reviewed and revised the report, which was adopted by ASBH when the HHV, SBC, and the American Association of Bioethics merged to form ASBH. The current Task Force is charged with bringing the Core Competencies up-to-date to reflect how ethics consultation in health care settings has evolved since 1998.

Task force members include: Robert Arnold, Ken Berkowitz, Laurie Badzek, Howard Brody, Denise Dudzinski, Nancy Dubler, Arlene Fink, Ellen Fox, Andrea Frolic, Jackie Glover, Ken Kipnis, Bill Nelson, Ruth Purtilo, Mary Rorty, Paul Schyve, Joy Skeel, and Anita Tarzian (chair).

Comments or suggestions can be sent to Anita Tarzian, the Task Force Chair, at atarzian@law.umaryland.edu.
